Wildlife Videographer: The Gear - Raynox HDP 9000EX Telephoto Lens
For wildlife videography one of the most important attachments to a camcorder is a teleconverter (telephoto conversion lens). The Canon XH A1 has a wonderful 20x zoom lens, but for most small or shy animals this is still not enough. The XH A1 has a fixed lens, unlike some of the more expensive camcorders on which you can attach (with adaptor rings) your normal photographic telephoto or zoom lens. These are great, but very expensive to buy, especially if you’re just starting out. After reading quite a few video forums, I found the Raynox HDP-9000EX 1.8x Telephoto Conversion Lens to be the best and cheapest option for wildlife videography with my XH A1. It’s an excellent lens with very good clarity and works well with the high definition XH A1 and mounts on directly onto the 72 mm camcorder lens.
